Headquarters Office Building

Brickstreet Insurance approached BBL to renovate the former Montgomery Wards location within the Charleston Town Center Mall.  The 86,100 square foot renovation started in November 2006 and was completed in October 2007.  The new office facility will house approximately 500 employees and provide services for West Virginia’s Worker’s Compensation Program.  The facility features approximately 100 offices and 400 workstations.

Completely renovate a six-story warehouse to incorporate an office/meeting space.  It includes three elevators, two new stairwells and a connector bridge to adjacent parking garage.

West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection

Headquarters Office Building

This three‑story, 178,000 square foot office building serves over 550 State employees.  This project was awarded to BBL through a competitive design ‑ build process.  The facility was designed to be LEED® compliant.  LEED®(Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design), is a federal organization that evaluates buildings for their energy consumption and environmental impact.  These “green” buildings are awarded points for their energy saving systems and environmentally‑friendly materials.  The State of WV received a “Silver” certification from LEED®.  It is the first in West Virginia.  In addition to other LEED®recognized features, the building features a state‑of‑the art HVAC system that utilizes environmentally safe coolants, as well as “green” floor finishes, and paint.

and Human Resources

This design build project was a first for the State of West Virginia.  BBL provided design, construction, and financing services for this project.  BBL renovated this 227,000 square foot former department store into Class A office space for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.  During the renovation process, the State also approached BBL to construct a four‑level parking garage for the tenants of this building.

West Virginia American Water Headquarters

Operation Center

West Virginia American Water Company contracted BBL to build the Central Division Operation Center in Charleston in 1993.  This 2.5 million dollar one-story structure served as the headquarters for the water company.  BBL was selected to complete an addition to the Central Division Operation Center in 1998.  The 59,500 square feet addition added new administration office space, computer rooms, a central mail room, and conference room facilities with indoor and outdoor entertainment spaces.  The new three-story atrium features a large indoor fountain and an open stair case.  This 4 million dollar addition brought the total size of the Operation Center to well over 91,000 square foot.

Professional Building

A design build project, the two‑story structure utilizes architectural precast panels to imitate limestone columns and cornice.  Indian Black granite and green mirrored glass served as infill between the columns.  Original budgets were altered as the owner added expensive finishes to the interior.  Granite and marble flooring, large crown moulding and casework, and exotic wallpaper give this Class AAA office space an elegant touch.  A large twenty‑four feet diameter fountain, an interior fountain, and a circular drive add to the effect.
